As a follow-up to our previous week’s post, on December 23, 2024, a federal Court of Appeals reinstated the reporting requirement for companies to file BOI reports with FinCEN. The reporting deadlines are as follows:
- Companies that were created or registered prior to January 1, 2024 have until January 13, 2025 to submit their initial BOI (this had initially been required by January 1, 2025).
- Companies with an original reporting deadline between December 3, 2024 and December 23, 2024 now have until January 13, 2025 to submit their BOI.
- Companies created or registered between December 3, 2024 and December 23, 2024 have an additional 21 days from their original filing deadline to submit their BOI.
Companies located in Florida affected by Hurricanes Debby, Helene, and Milton have already received a six-month extension. This extension applies to all companies with a principal place of business located in Florida.
